EARTH PAINTING

Wildhearth with Clio Wondrausch: view earth top Connect to 2109greensites People have painted with the earth for thousands of years.
Beautiful, powerful images and symbols can still be seen today as rock art, mostly deep in caves where they are preserved by the lack of light and humidity.
Bold, sensitive tribal paintings on paper, cloth, wood, bark, rock, leaves, clay… are becoming ever more sought after in our industrialised societies as we hunger for our Earth connection.
To me the Earth is Mother giver of life, Her rich, warm colours are a raw and potent medium for expressing our creativity.
Wildhearth with Clio Wondrausch: view earth main In a day’s workshop we go for a gentle walk of no more than a mile or two.
We find the natural earth pigments and discover the joy of drawing and painting with them right there in the landscape, leaving behind us a trail of prayers.

With the pigments we’ve gathered in our baskets, we’ll prepare all natural paints and back at the hearth explore painting with the earth.

No previous experience is necessary. Come as you are.

The workshops are open to all ages.

Bring appropriate outdoor clothing and lunch to share.

Wildhearth with Clio Wondrausch: view earth right "Within in a few hours, Clio enabled ancient skills to awaken in me, reactivating my playful child and my intuition.

The joy of taking a handful of earth, and mixing it to make a paint, then allowing my subconscious mind to simply 'go for it', (put paint to paper) was sublime.

I loved every minute of the day - the time flew by - and I took home a bunch of amazing paintings, as well as a new attitude to myself and creativity.

Thank you, Clio, so much." Margot from Oxford.
